Dear Son,

One day, I hope you're old enough to understand why Mama did all of this.

Why I stayed up late chasing ideas.

Why I started over when starting over would've been easier to avoid.

Why I took the things that hurt me, embarrassed me, humbled me, and nearly broke me....and decided they weren't going to be the end of our story.

There were days I had no idea what I was doing.

There were days I was scared to my core.

There were days when the life I thought we were building disappeared right in front of me, and I had to figure out how to build a different one with whatever I had left.

But I had you.

And somehow, that always made not trying impossible.

I don't want to simply give you things.

I want to build you something.

I want to build an empire you can be proud of....not because it became big, not because it made money, and not because people knew our name.

I want you to be proud of what it was built from.

Faith when I couldn't see what came next.

Courage when I was scared as hell.

Work when quitting would've been easier.

Grace for the woman I used to be.

And a love for you strong enough to make me believe that our story could become something greater than everything that tried to destroy it.

Maybe one day you'll inherit a company.

Maybe you'll inherit a name people recognize.

Maybe Outlaw Amen becomes everything I'm fighting for it to become.

But none of that is the inheritance I care about most.

I want you to inherit the proof that you can begin again.

I want you to know that losing the life you planned doesn't mean you've lost your life.

That your mistakes don't get to decide your future.

That there is no shame in rebuilding.

That faith doesn't always look pretty.

And that sometimes the strongest thing you'll ever do is stand in the middle of everything that fell apart and say,

“This ain't over.”

That's what Mama did.

Brick by brick.

Boulder by boulder.

Prayer by prayer.

Failure by failure.

Win by win.

Hopefully someday you can stand inside everything that came from this wild ride and understand...

I wasn't only rebuilding my life this time.

I was building yours, too.

Every risk.

Every late night.

Every time I wanted to quit and didn't.

Every piece of Outlaw Amen.

There was always a reason behind it.

You.

FOR MY CHILD.

Everything I'm building started with the decision to give you a story worth inheriting.

Love, Mama.
